Add a 3rd dimension
If I'm working on a project that requires both 1/2" sheets and 3/4" sheets, I'd like to be able to add all the details about all the parts and let the programs apply the cuts to the correct sheets. If you want a killer feature that I've never seen in another program, allow either a blank 3rd dimension or a check box that would indicate either size could be used (say for a hidden strengthening rail).

Lots of woodworking plans are distributed in that format.

Add parts numbering
Have the a field in the stock part to have a number for each part, in our workshop we assign each piece a number to make the cutting easier.

Cost calculation of material usage
I would like to know, based on the cost information of each repository piece, how much money I will waste to produce all demand pieces.

Sequences of cuts and machines.
It's very important to see the sequence of the cuts. It's not always possible to realize which ones come first. I have to set-up the stops gauges for the correct lenghs. Each machine (operational post) have to be set for each lenght, because I need to cut a lot of sheets continuously. I have 12 guillotines, but I can't charge more then 5 machines per batch.
So, I need a place in the software to show which work posts I have, and their particularities, like sizes of the blade and maximum widht.18 votes -

Generate labels for used pieces
I would like to have an option on Otimize Nesting to generate labels for identifying the pieces generated after the cutting process.

Multiple inventory items on a page
Hello folks
I frequently am cutting from board lengths (eg: 10 lengths of 8ft 1x5 for a BBQ cabinet). It would be to have an option to display and print cut layouts with more than one inventory item per page. This provides a much quicker verification on screen that all is well, and prevents the significant waste of paper in printing one page per board. You have a truly grand piece of software here.

Save as Image, PDF or Web Link
Include more two or three buttons when Otimize shows the optimization results: "Save As Image > Jpeg or gif", "Import as PDF", and "Create an web link."

Pdf's to include nesting statistics and inventory material measurements with cut patterns
Having a yield percentage would be handy. This could be used directly for cost analysis or even quotes for customers. Also when using different sized materials Otimize does not include the material size on the pdf's? When doing runs anything larger than 30-40 sheets you really dont want to be adding them up manually to see what size material you have to use. Another idea is to generate a text based cut list of the nesting results.

Quantidade de Cortes
É de suma importância para quem vende peças cortadas aos Cliente que o sistema tenha a quantidade de cortes pois para a rede moveleira isso é indispensável.
Atenciosamente.

Open selected input box without multiple clicking
When a line is "added", and the cursor is already in the first box (name), it should be open for input. It is necessary to click not once, but twice to actually open for input. Also, it would be nice if, when you have tabbed all the way across an open line item, it automatically added another line instead of having to click "add". On big jobs, these are tedious and unnecessary steps that add up very quickly.

Show the process steps
When the user start de application, the first thing what he should see is a short text about the first step what he can do. Exemple:
"Step 1 - Enter the piece information you want to produce"
After user enters with the information, a second area apears in the screen with the next step:
"Step 2 - Enter the piece Width"
"Step 3 - Enter the piece Lenght"
"Step 4 - Enter with repository information"
"Step 5 - Click at Optimize and see the results"

Hi gary,
What kind of information would you like to see on the cutting list? Can you give us an example?
Thank you,
Igor.

maintain 'finished edges' from invent
A lot of our inventory has finished edges that we either cannot replicate or it is too time consuming to replicate (i.e. Oak panels with a chamfered edge) and some parts require either one or two of these to be maintained.
Is it possible to add a checkbox for 'width' and one for 'length' to denote that we require this dimension to run along the edge of one of our inventory boards?

Usability tests
Select three clients who use Otimize or three common people who never used before.
Invite them to a test. Visit their offices. Ask them to think with loud voice while they use the system and let they navigate on it.
Dont try to help them.
Record the session or write notes about what you see.
Ask sugestions in the end of test.
